    Error in Eclipse project using Tomcat 7.

    Project uses spring - albeit an older version.

    SEVERE: Error configuring application listener of class org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener

    Ensure you have this line in web.xml

    <listener>
    <listener-class>org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoaderListener</listener-class>
    </listener>

    I solved this by using Tomcat 6 as opposed to tomcat 7. Something is wrong in the class path when using tomcat 6. I have had several issues with Tomcat 7, but it could be that it is because Tomcat 7 is supposed to be more JEE compliant. unfortunately I have no time to review right now.
