    WASX7023E: Error creating "SOAP" connection to host "localhost"; exception information: com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.ConnectorNotAvailableException: com.ibm.websphere.management.exception.ConnectorNotAvailableException: ADMC0016E: The system cannot create a SOAP connector to connect to host localhost at port 8880.

    Comment:

    This is a typical problem when you are not using WebSphere ND. ND uses a Deployment Manager to manage nodes and you can run the wsadmin scripts on the Deployment Manager to start,stop check status etc.

    If you are using a stand-alone app server ie WebSphere base you cannot connect to the server to run wsadmin scripts if it is not running.

    However, if you are using WebSphere 7, you can use an administrative agent which you can run scripts against, much like the ND concept. So in short, in WAS 7 you can check the status of managed servers even if oyu only have WebSphere 7 base.
