    Uninstalling WebSphere 7 Trial

Lets say you have WebSphere installed in /apps/was7

if you list the directory you will see a folder called: uninstall

    change directory to uninstall

    cd uninstall

Run xming or your favourite XWindows server

and run the follwing command as an appropriate user, I used root in my case.

    <was_install_root>/uninstall

    [root@websphere uninstall]# ./uninstall

Welcome to the IBM WebSphere Application Server Trial uninstallation

    Click "Next"

If you wish to remove all profiles then check the "Remove all profile" check box, I want to see if I can re-install the WAS trial binaries and re-install WebSphere due to the fact my trial has expired.

If you see the following message it is because WebSphere is till running

"Running processes have been detected that may interfere with the current operation. Before installing or uninstalling maintenance package, stop all the WebSphere and related processes."

    Exit the uninstaller

    run <was_root>/bin/stopServer.sh <server name>

    [root@websphere bin]# ./stopServer.sh server1
    WSVR0028I: The product has expired.
Please re-install or purchase the product.
ADMU0116I: Tool information is being logged in file
    /apps/was7/profiles/appsrv01/logs/server1/stopServer.log
ADMU0128I: Starting tool with the appsrv01 profile
ADMU3100I: Reading configuration for server: server1
ADMU3201I: Server stop request issued. Waiting for stop status.
    ADMU4000I: Server server1 stop completed.

    restart the uninstaller

The uninstaller will progress with the uninstallation process.

When complete, a summary of the uninstallation results will be presented:

    click "Finish"

There will still be on disk configurations left because you opted not to remove the profile.
