ERROR Unsupported Red Hat release when installing ClearCase

    [root@localhost install]# ./install_release
ERROR: Unsupported Red Hat release: 5 Kernel: 2.6.18-8.el5.
    Aborting install

    Solution:

The problem is we have to look at kernel.pl, it is looking for an older RHEL version. IBM says that Linux RHEL 5.3 is suported, however, they don't mention that the scripts are based on RHEL4.

    cat /etc/redhat-release

Result = Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5 (Tikanga)

    cp /etc/redhat-release /etc/redhat-release.old

    vi /etc/redhat-release

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 4
