    Changing the IBMIM repository location

When you download the IBMIM (IBM Installation Manager) for windows it will default to using the online IBM repositories. This means it can take forever to get the WebSphere Application Server repository files. what you can do is download the WAS repositories separately and change the preferences of IIM to use your local repo.

Select the IBM repositories from the location list and click the "Remove Repository" button

My repository contains the extracted core WebSphere 8 repository files

Then click "Add Repository" and browse to your local repo and select the repository.config file

    Result

When you exit back to the IIM home screen and click "Install" you will see that a new installation package group is available called "IBM WebSphere Application Server" the current version being 8.0.0.0 as no fixpacks have been released at the time of this article creation.

Note: You will need to keep your repo up todate for latest version of WAS.
