Rational distributes UNIX patch archives for the ClearCase

Product Family as gzip-compressed tar archives (*.tar.gz).

To apply a patch, you must:

1: Copy the archive into a subdirectory of your local

ClearCase Product Family release area.

2: Extract the patch.

3: Apply the patch to the release area.

4: Run site_prep

5: Patch the ClearCase hosts at your site using the same

procedures you use for installing all ClearCase Product

Family members.

1. CREATE A PATCH SUBDIRECTORY

Create a 'patches' subdirectory in the release area to be

patched. This will probably require super-user privileges.

% su

Password: <password>

# mkdir /usr/clearcase_rls/7.0.1.0/linux_x86/clearcase/patches

Copy the *.tar.gz file into this directory.

# cp -p ... /usr/clearcase_rls/7.0.1.0/linux_x86/clearcase/patches/7.0.1.5-RATL-RCC.linux_x86.tar.gz

2. EXTRACT THE PATCH

Change directory to the 'patches' directory.

# cd /usr/clearcase_rls/7.0.1.0/linux_x86/clearcase/patches

Extract the patch using the gzip and tar commands.

# /opt/rational/clearcase/etc/ccgzip -d 7.0.1.5-RATL-RCC.linux_x86.tar.gz

# tar -xvf 7.0.1.5-RATL-RCC.linux_x86.tar

This creates a subdirectory for the patch in the

'patches' directory.

3: PATCH THE RELEASE AREA

WARNING: If any ClearCase hosts at your site have been

installed using either the Standard or Link installation

models, patch the release area only when these hosts are not

in use, and patch the individual hosts as soon as the release

area has been patched. Otherwise, inconsistencies between the

software in the release area and the software installed on the

individual hosts will make ClearCase fail or operate

erratically on these systems.

To patch the release area, you must be logged in as the

super-user.

3.1: Change directory to the 'install' subdirectory of the

directory that was created when you extracted the patch.

# cd /usr/clearcase_rls/7.0.1.0/linux_x86/clearcase/patches/7.0.1.5-RATL-RCC/clearcase/install

3.2: Apply the patch using the command:

# ./apply_patch

The apply_patch utility validates the extracted patch

contents, then overwrites files in the release area with newer

ones included in the patch.

4. Run site_prep.

At the end of apply_patch execution, the user is provided options

for running site_prep. The options are:

1 - Run site_prep with no (or minimal) user interaction.

2 - Run site_prep with full user interaction.

3 - Exit; Run site_prep at a later time.

Note that if option 3 is chosen, site_prep must be run before

step 5 (i.e. PATCH CLEARCASE HOSTS).

5. PATCH CLEARCASE HOSTS

Once the release area has been patched, you may patch individual

ClearCase hosts using install_release as described in the

ClearCase Product Family Installation Notes. Only the changed

files will be installed.

This patch contains the following software changes:

PK37198:

Addresses an issue where ct does not check the mastership if a VOB is replicated when promoting a local lbtype to global.

PK73700:

Fixed the multitool core dump that occurred when using the -actual flag with the commands chepoch and lsepoch.

PK78259:

Fixes an issue where a graphical merge is not started when requested for elements that required a trivial merge.

PK77527:

Improves performance for build times.

PK78383:

Addresses an issue with the command syncreplica -export returning an out of memory error when trying to synchronize versioned derived objects.

PK80349:

Fixes an issue where a post-op uncheckout trigger removes an empty branch does not update CCRC.

PK70970:

Fixes an issue where the shipping_server ALBD contact calls to a remote system do not honor MIN/MAX port limitations. A new parameter, MSSHP_STRICT, is provided in the albd_rt_params.conf. Set this parameter to 1 to enforce a strict range for outgoing and incoming ports. This fix also returns the default behavior of enforcing a strict range when the CLEARCASE_MIN_PORT and CLEARCASE_MAX_PORT environment variables are set.

Addresses the issue where the ClearCase project explorer left open numerous database cursors while making a baseline.

Fixes an issue where the audited build executor (abe) does not pass environment variable values to the spawned shell.

Resolves an issue where a mkreplica error incorrectly references the name of the replica instead of the VOB identifier when attempting to create a replica from a remote host.

Fixes an issue where $$() characters in makefiles are not handled correctly when using the -C gnu flag.

Prevents valid hyperlinks between replicated and unreplicated VOBs from being eligible for cleanup by checkvob.
